QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Bachelor's degree in core academic areas (English, Math, History, Science) or extensive coursework in the field, VA Teaching license preferred; for career-based areas, degree or certificate in the field or equivalent relevant work experience. Strong oral presentation and communication skills are required.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and lead engaging hands-on lessons for middle and high school students in specified fields, design course syllabi with outcomes for diverse learners, ensure student engagement, maintain attendance records, and adhere to Pre-College policies.

SHORT DESCRIPTION
Seeking motivated instructors for the Summer Discovery Institute to deliver hands-on leadership, career exploration, and academic classes for middle and high school students from June 3 to June 28.

Job Description:
- Develop high quality, hands-on lessons and lead instruction for middle and/or high school program participants in specified fields. Examples include but are not limited to: English, Math, History, Foreign Language, Lab-based Science, STEM, Visual, or Performing Arts, Culinary Arts, Cosmetology, Fashion Design/Marketing, Physical Education/Wellness, Sports Marketing, Health Career Exploration, Social Sciences, Academic Success, etc.
- Design and submit a course syllabus and lessons with specific outcomes for diverse learners and complete one or more projects with participants
- Follow Pre-College programs policies to ensure student engagement and responsibilities
- Be committed to a positive youth development focus in delivering instruction
- Work in a fun and fast-paced environment with a team
- Meet deadlines for submission of requests for materials and supplies
- Be responsible to maintaining student attendance and engagement records according to Pre-College Programs templates.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Core academic areas: (english, math, history, science) minimum Bachelor’s degree, or extensive coursework in field of study, equivalent experience. VA Teaching license in-field is preferred.
- Career-based areas: degree or certificate in field or equivalent relevant work/practical experience.
