Xavier University is seeking a non-tenure-track Teaching Professor in Coaching Education for Fall 2025 to develop courses and contribute to the department's mission of inclusivity and diversity.
Xavier University, a Catholic University in the Jesuit tradition, invites applications for a 9-month non-tenure-track teaching professor position in Coaching Education beginning in fall 2025. The Sport Management, Sport Marketing, and Sport Administration programs are located in the Department of Sport Science & Management, in the College of Professional Sciences (www.xavier.edu/sport_studies). The Department of Sport Science & Management offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Sport Management, Sport Marketing, Exercise Science and Master of Science degrees in Sport Administration and Athletic Training. Xavier is starting an undergraduate minor in coaching and a graduate certificate in coaching education at the graduate level. The Teaching Professor position is renewable on a yearly basis, with the potential after six years for promotion to Senior Teaching Professor with a rolling two-year renewable contract. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
Qualifications
Doctorate or earned master’s degree in coaching, kinesiology, human performance or related field. A minimum of 3-5 years teaching experience at an accredited college or university. Preference will be given to candidates with multiple level sport coaching experience and demonstrated excellence in coaching pedagogy. Experience in online teaching for both graduate and undergraduate courses is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Teaching undergraduate courses in the coaching minor and online graduate courses within the Sport Administration curriculum to include coaching education courses for the graduate coaching education certificate.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities.
- Advising students in the areas of both matriculation and professional development.
- Other duties as assigned by chair.
Position
Nine-month, non-tenure track position with summer teaching opportunities.
Rank/Salary
Teaching professor with salary commensurate to qualifications and experience.
