Seeking a motivated Apprentice for hands-on training in trailer lot sales, service, and operations, with potential for career advancement and increased compensation based on contribution.

Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Apprentice to join our team. This entry-level position offers hands-on training and experience in various aspects of trailer lot sales, service, parts, and lot operations.

Position starts as Lot Apprentice: General lot duties include assisting in receiving trailers, assembling trailers, maintaining lot cleanliness, assisting other team members as possible.

Developmental Position: As apprentice demonstrates reliability, work ethic, interest, ability, and capacity to take on new and expanded responsibilities, there are opportunities to navigate into Lot Coordinator, Service Tech, Parts and Trailer Sales positions.

We work with each employee to guide their development into roles and responsibilities that best fit their skills and interests.

Each expansion of duties and responsibilities merits an increase in compensation. We are committed to adjusting compensation in relationship to contribution. As skills and responsibilities grow, so does compensation.

We are a small team and therefore we are heavily dependent on each team member to show up and contribute fully each shift. Reliability is a key factor in success in a small business.

Development and advancement opportunities:

Sales: Assist customers with trailer requests through in-person, phone, text, and email communications. Perform needs assessments to determine the appropriate trailer for each customer. Explain trailer features, benefits, and differences between brands and models. Complete paperwork and sales documents accurately. Professional communications and customer service skills.

Parts: Assist customers with parts requests through in-person, phone, text, and email communications. Perform needs assessments to determine the appropriate parts for each customer. Professional communications and customer service skills.

Marketing: Using the tools provided, post, monitor and update online marketing daily. Respond to messages in a timely manner. Professional communications and customer service skills.

Parts Inventory: Receiving, pricing, stocking, sales, inventory rotation, and other duties as needed to accurately maintain parts stock and sales. Professional communications and customer service skills.

Lot Coordinator: Receiving shipments of parts and trailers. Ensuring items received are checked-in, assembled as needed, cleaned, stickered, and stocked properly. Maintaining lot cleanliness. Assisting customers with final sales checkout, and other duties as needed. Professional communications and customer service skills.

Service Tech: Service of trailer systems, including body, frame, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems. Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose issues quickly and efficiently. Welding and fabrication as needed. Professional communications and customer service skills.

Required:

Communication Skills: Must be able to connect with people effectively and communicate efficiently and clearly. Must be quickly perceived by customers as likable, knowledgeable, and trustworthy.

Reliable: Show up when scheduled. On time and ready to work.

Productive: Self-motivated to identify work to be done and get after it.

Positive contributor: We expect all employees to be engaged in the work we do and display a strong commitment to exceeding customer expectations and growing the business.

Physically able: Must be able to stand/walk for full shift. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and effectively. Must be tolerant of working in all Spokane weather conditions.

Computers and Smartphones: Must be reasonably adept at using computers and smartphones to utilize and manage point-of-sale systems, inventory programs, marketing tools, and social media apps as needed depending on roles and responsibilities.

Basic mechanical knowledge with a willingness to learn more advanced techniques.

Experience or familiarity with basic tools is preferred.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently and well within a team environment.

Nice to have, but can be learned on the job:

- Retail Sales or Customer Service experience

- A knowledge of, or interest in, Trailers and the Trailer industry

- Parts Counter experience

- Inventory experience (receiving, stocking, counting, etc.)

- Outdoor Labor (a history of work in heat/cold)

- Skills in welding, fabrication, mechanics or a strong interest in learning

Examples of jobs that people came from that had success here:

- Auto parts sales

- Fire Fighters (both municipal and wildland)

- Mechanics

- Industrial counter sales

- Military

- Manufacturing

- Restaurants

- Warehouse stocking and inventory

- Field labor

Examples of things that held employees back from success:

- Frequently distracted (music, videos, podcasts taking away from job focus and learning opportunities)

- Easily frustrated (focused on what’s wrong rather than moving forward)

- Abrasive or Ineffective communications (with customers or co-workers)

- Lean back rather than lean forward (Doing what is required rather than doing what you can)

- Limited Capacity (no obvious capacity for more responsibility, or limited capacity to learn and accept additional responsibilities)

- Reliability (show up when scheduled, on time, be engaged while here)

If you like what we do, want to be here, want to learn something every day, and are reliable to show-up and do work, we can absolutely teach and develop you into roles that suit your skills and interests.

We are seeking a productive team player. The rest you can learn as you go. As in most all jobs, if you can bring a positive attitude and a strong work ethic, we can support you through learning and development.

We are a small business with a small team. The ability to support and rely on each other is critical. We show up, pull our weight, cover for each other, and do what we can, not just what we must.

If this seems like the kind of work and kind of team you would like to be part of, please apply.
