Pay: $16.00 plus commissions $5,000 - $11,000 or greater

Dalton Motors is located less than 20 minutes from most areas of San Diego. Founded in 1945, Dalton Motors is a family owned and operated business with over 35 dealerships serving major manufacturers including Subaru and others. We have ongoing training for our staff, including training from the manufacturer, new product on-line training, and job specific training by our in-house trainer. Our dealership runs smoothly in large part due to our solid processes and trained, skilled staff, many of whom have been here for twenty years or more.
Some of What You’ll do:
- Oversee the acquisition, pricing, and organization of the dealership's used car inventory to ensure a diverse and appealing selection that meets market demand.
- Regularly review and update pricing to remain competitive in the market while ensuring profitability.
- Organize vehicles on the lot to maximize visibility and appeal to customers, ensuring that all vehicles are display-ready with proper signage, pricing, and promotional materials.
- Ensure that all vehicles are thoroughly inspected and meet dealership standards for quality before being offered for sale.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with dealers, auctions, wholesalers, and other industry partners to facilitate smooth transactions.
- Work with vendors to ensure high-quality repairs, detailing, and cosmetic upgrades are made on vehicles as needed.
- Source and procure wholesale vehicles through auctions and other channels while negotiating prices to maintain profitability.
- Evaluate each vehicle’s condition and determine the extent of necessary repairs, including mechanical, cosmetic, and detailing work.
- Approve and track Service Repair Orders (RO) to ensure that repairs meet dealership standards and are completed in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with internal service teams or subcontracted vendors to ensure that repair work is completed to the highest quality.
- Ensure that all vehicles meet the dealership’s quality standards before being put on the lot, including inspection for mechanical functionality and visual appeal.
- Keep detailed records of repairs, services, and maintenance for each vehicle to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Provide the necessary documentation to the business office to ensure accurate vehicle records and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Work closely with the sales team to identify high-demand vehicles and expedite repairs or acquisitions to meet customer needs.
- Provide insight into inventory trends and market conditions to assist the sales team in promoting high-demand vehicles.
- Address customer concerns regarding vehicle condition, pricing, or service in a professional and timely manner, ensuring a positive and seamless buying experience.
- Assist in creating a customer-friendly environment by ensuring that vehicles are properly displayed, priced, and ready for test drives.
- Coordinate the transport and delivery of wholesale vehicles, ensuring timely and cost-efficient logistics.
- Handle the transfer and transport of vehicles between the dealership, vendors, and other locations, maintaining clear communication regarding delivery times and conditions.
- Conduct routine checks of the inventory and lot to identify vehicles requiring repairs or maintenance, and promptly address any issues.
- Enhance the overall aesthetic appeal of the lot by ensuring vehicles are organized and well-presented.
- Conduct vehicle appraisals and provide recommendations for pricing, repairs, and marketing strategies to enhance vehicle desirability.
- Provide services to ensure the smooth operation of the dealership’s vehicle appraisal and recon processes.
What we are looking for:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as a Used Car Manager, Automotive
- Proven New Car sales experience, minimum 3 years
- Strong understanding of vehicle repair processes, pricing strategies, and market trends.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation abilities, both with internal teams and external vendors/dealers.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing market conditions.
- Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making ability.
