Must be willing to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Assist in editing and production of game entertainment features, create social media content, work various control room positions on game days, support control room staff, execute sponsorship elements, maintain video libraries, participate in creative development, support location shoots, and assist with promotions.

SHORT DESCRIPTION

The Video Production Intern will support game day and non-game day productions for the Knoxville Smokies, gaining valuable experience in the sports, entertainment, and marketing industries while managing video content and control room operations.

ABOUT THE SMOKIES: The Knoxville Smokies make their debut in their new state-of-the-art stadium, Covenant Health Park, in 2025. Now located in historic Downtown Knoxville, the Smokies remain the proud Double-A Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. The Knoxville Smokies are operated by Boyd Sports, LLC.

DESCRIPTION: The Video Production Intern is an invaluable part of the production staff. The intern assists with all aspects of our game day and non-game day productions. Candidate will operate brand new control room equipment, and must be ready to lead control room staff if needed. The position will require editing and filming various videos, spanning from player highlights, merchandise features, ticket sales, and promotions. Candidate can expect to work in an office setting during the day, and in the control room and throughout the ballpark during games. The internship will allow the individual to gain experience with a professional organization for their future in the sports, entertainment and marketing industries. The Video Production Intern will support the overall efforts to build the Knoxville Smokies brand and promote its work, programming and initiatives through visual communications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in the editing and production of various game entertainment features, such as player videos, highlight packages, etc.
  • Create unique and engaging social media content for Facebook, X, Instagram, and TikTok
  • Work various control room positions on game days as needed, such as technical director, show control, replay operator, camera-person, video playback, etc.
  • Support and lead control room staff with various administrative duties
  • Execute ‘proof of performance’ sponsorship elements, in conjunction with promotions staff
  • Log and maintain video libraries of game highlights, video projects, interviews, animations, etc.
  • Actively participate in the creative development process
  • Provide support on Video Production location shoots
  • Graphic design, photography, photo editing, and building photo library as needed
  • Assist with on-field promotions and in-game entertainment as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Candidates must submit a production reel with resume and cover letter to be considered
  • Knowledge of control room system functionality (switcher, audio setup, data storage, etc.)
  • Experience operating and setting up handheld and stationary cameras
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Premiere or other video editing software
  • Basic skills in Adobe Photoshop
  • Candidates must be creative, enthusiastic, willing to learn, and self-driven
  • Demonstrate the ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Willing and able to work all Knoxville Smokies home games, flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays in addition to outside events

START DATE:
On or near end of January 2025
END DATE: On or near end of September 2025

SALARY:
Internship - Monthly Stipend
