SHORT DESCRIPTION
The Volunteer Coordinator will manage volunteer resources, implement training and recruitment strategies, and oversee volunteer program delivery in alignment with FUCI's mission and values.
Summary
The Volunteer Coordinator will coordinate the resources of the Volunteer Department in the delivery of FUCI's programs and services. This includes overseeing volunteers and providing staff who supervise volunteers trainees with training, direction, resources, and tools. The ideal candidate for this position will exhibit effective time management, dedication to equitable service delivery, a high degree of emotional intelligence, and accountability for all deliverables, communications, and performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plans and coordinates the volunteer programs/services and events; including volunteer appreciation events quarterly and annually.
- Assesses the need for volunteers, and the number needed for each event, to enhance program/service delivery.
- Develops and implements effective strategies to recruit the right volunteers with the right skills, and to work with the right staff employee; Identifies volunteer assignments that provide meaningful work for volunteers.
- Develops and implements an intake and interview protocol for potential volunteers to ensure the best match between the skills, qualifications, and interests of the volunteers and the needs of the organization.
- Recruit and train community members, college students or recent graduates, and all volunteers who support the infrastructure of programs.
- Develops and implements goals and objectives for the volunteer program which reflect the mission of the organization.
- Maintains a database of volunteer information and skills, matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skills.
- Maintains all volunteer reporting, coordinating the tracking of and reporting on all volunteer hours and activities.
- Ensures that the mission and values of the organization are upheld and that the face of FUCI reflects compassion for all, integrity in practices, and professionalism overall.
- Provides positive guidance and direction to all volunteers, encouraging a team approach and professional attitude while modeling best practices; Provide conflict resolution and be a liaison between supervisors and volunteers.
- Work alongside volunteers to complete assignments, providing hands-on support and fostering teamwork.
- Work with the Marketing Coordinator to develop marketing and outreach strategies to promote our organization, Volunteer Program, and Volunteer Opportunities to businesses, organizations, and the community at large.
- Performs related assignments as requested by the Center’s management.

Education/Experience
- An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
- B.A. Degree and/or equivalent experience.
- Experience with coordinating volunteers.
- Outreach experience with community programs.
- Experience coordinating events and programs.
- Some work experience in a social service organization preferred.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check and drug screen prior to hire.
- Personal computer literacy required including MS Office Suite.
- Bilingual fluency in Spanish or Chinese preferred.
- Ability to keep information confidential and exercise judgment.
- Ease with others and strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to take initiative and follow through while maintaining reliability, and responsibility.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License
- Volunteer Management Certification is a plus.
Work Environment
- The work is typically performed in an office environment, with a moderate noise level.
- Some work will be performed in warehouse spaces.
- Some work will be performed in event spaces or outdoors.
- Occasional travel to company locations during the day and occasional evenings and weekends may be required.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit, stand, and move as needed to complete requisite paperwork.
- Ability to commute to various settings in the community, and to other FUCI locations.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. of employee and business files.
- Ability to work at a computer terminal for the bulk of the workload for this position.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
