Vp Marketing
The VP Marketing is responsible for understanding the group medical practice (and associated businesses) marketplace and positioning MGMA as a value creator in that market. This executive will foster an enterprise-wide obsession with our customers – positioning MGMA products and services in the best light to meet our customer’s most pressing challenges. In conjunction with the Chief Revenue Officer and Head of Sales, create an aligned view of our target accounts and customers and relentlessly pursue servicing an ever-growing stable of said customers.
Requirements:Essential Functions
- Consistently curate and position MGMA’s brand in the marketplace as a value-added partner to medical groups.
- Shape Marketplace Strategy: Collaborate with the executive team to refine the company’s go-to-market vision and strategy. Determine comprehensive sales, product, and business strategies that solve complex business challenges and address the needs of customers and stakeholders across various functions to drive incremental growth.
- Drive Financial Growth and Profitability: Lead market analysis and product positioning efforts. Utilize customer insights and explore business model innovation to drive revenue growth, improve conversion rates, and optimize financial performance.
- Spearhead research on customer and market segments, working in conjunction with peers in product and sales leadership, to identify un- or under-served segments
- Using the most up-to-date digital marketing strategies, oversee the creation and execution of annual marketing campaigns, ensuring business outcomes are met through appropriate lead generation.
- Cultivate, foster and drive outcomes with functional partnerships in sales, product and IT primarily.
- Lead a communication function, with both internal and external focus, to augment MGMA’s thought leadership position in the industry and with our employees.
- Directly collaborate with all executive leadership to ensure processes, technology and reporting efforts are in place, enabling the function to deliver results.
- Responsible for the enterprise-wide marketing budget and associated ROI of functional expenses.
Supervisory Duties
Directly manages the Director of Marketing, Digital Marketing, and Communications teams in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work including goal setting, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Lead a team of highly skilled and enthusiastic marketing professionals, including digital marketers, designers and communication experts
- Ability to leverage the MGMA brand to showcase the Association’s expertise and credibility to inspire customer confidence.
- Ability to act as catalyst for positive change, identify potential pitfalls, develop strategies, and communication plans around change management.
- Outstanding interpersonal communication skills, builds rapport and effective relationships, uses tact, and able to diffuse high-tension situations.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to effectively partner in the development and execution of business strategies with strong analytical capabilities and a data driven approach to developing effective solutions to business issues.
- Expertise in advanced digital marketing, marketing automation, marketing analytics and consumer research to shift marketing strategies as driven by data and outcomes.
- Demonstrated ability to consistently uphold, advocate for, and act in alignment with MGMA’s mission, vision, and values.
- Ability to analyze data to identify patterns, draw conclusions and determine cause and effect relationships to inform leadership decisions, recommend actions, or resolve organizational challenges.
- Knowledge of budgeting and financial analysis within an operational division and ability to hold oneself and others accountable for achieving budgetary outcomes.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills with the ability to make formal and informal group presentations to all levels in the organization particularly Executives, and Board Members, and internal and external customers.
- Acumen in strategic thinking with the ability to create and articulate a vision and work with key stakeholders to execute that vision.
- Ability to manage a dynamic staff, be an advisor to the CRO and Executive Team, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business or related field is required.
- Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) or other business-related advanced degree is strongly preferred.
Experience
- Ten (10) or more years of marketing and communications experience in a complex business environment is required.
- At least 5 years of experience in a strategic role with team member oversight is required.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
- Familiarity with the healthcare industry or a non-profit organization is highly preferred.

This is a largely sedentary role, so employee must be able to remain in a sedentary position while focusing for extended periods of time throughout the workday. Position also requires occasional movement inside the office to access file cabinets, printers, etc. While performing the duties of this job, employee is regularly required to successfully navigate scenarios requiring the following operational abilities:
- Ability to operate PC/keyboard and other office productivity equipment
- Ability to position self to traverse/navigate around typical office setting
- Ability pull/push, lift, open/close, grasp/manipulate, transport up to 10 lbs
