The VP of Community Relations will direct and manage community engagement programs focusing on bridge building and allyship, reporting to the Sr. VP Community Engagement.

Position: VP of Community Relations

Salary: $90,000 to $140,000

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Sr. VP Community Engagement, the VP, Community Relations is responsible for directing and managing the Community Engagement programs that address bridge building and allyship.
- We are not seeking applicants interested in the marketing and communications space but rather in the bridge building and advocacy space.
Duties:
- Lead the Federation’s strategy to conceptualize and implement initiatives that effectively build relationships with diverse groups of individuals or organizations across racial, ethnic, and religious communities.
- Identify and coordinate opportunities for inter-group, inter-faith collaboration.
- Maintain strong relationships and cultivate new partnerships with diverse stakeholders to enhance our bridge-building work.
- Monitor progress and evaluate the effectiveness of efforts.
- Design and implement innovative programming and content to strengthen the Jewish Federation’s ties to diverse segments of the Los Angeles community.
- Oversee the planning of community engagement programs and supervise direct reports.
- Maintain knowledge and professional expertise on relevant issues that impact this space.
- Partner with the Sr. VP, Community Engagement to represent the Community Engagement area within the Federation and to the community.
- Develop, prepare and monitor program budgets including monthly variances and projecting year to year budget figures.
- Oversee staff development. Lead staff meetings and provide overall department supervision in the absence of the Sr. VP Community Engagement.
- Work with and oversee the efforts of lay leaders and committees as appropriate.
Additional Duties:
Be available to supervisor for additional assignments, as required, including assisting with the Campaign.
Education & Experience Required For Position:
- BA required, Advanced degree in Jewish education, Jewish communal service, non-profit management, or community social work preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in Jewish Federation or Jewish communal field preferred with increasingly responsible managerial and supervisorial experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with and relate to people.
- Proactive and strategic in building innovative relationships and unconventional alliances.
- Able to develop project/work plans and execute on them with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Skillful in discerning and navigating organizational and communal dynamics and building trusting relationships.
- Discretion and attention to detail a must.
- Experience in community organizing, community relations and social action.
- Demonstrated commitment to the Jewish community and its international and domestic concerns.
- Exceptional networking, public speaking and written communication skills.
- A hybrid work model will be implemented for certain positions. This position must report to worksite on non-remote workdays, as determined by the Federation.
