Position Overview

As the VP of Operations and Finance, you will act as the Integrator to the Visionary, ensuring the company’s operations align seamlessly with its strategic objectives. This role requires a leader with a proven track record in operations management, financial leadership, and team mentorship, ideally within the service, design, or construction industries.


Key Responsibilities

Operations and Strategy

  • Ownership Thinking: Demonstrate a proactive mindset and take responsibility for outcomes, acting as if the business's success depends on their efforts. Approach challenges with initiative, focus on long-term value creation, and make decisions that align with the company’s goals and vision.
  • Thought Partnership: Collaborate closely with the Founder/CEO to identify opportunities, solve challenges, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Strategic Planning: Partner with the leadership team to create and execute long-term strategies aligned with company goals.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage day-to-day business operations, ensuring efficient processes and smooth execution across departments.
  • Procurement Leadership: Oversee procurement processes to optimize cost-effectiveness and quality.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and lead teams, fostering accountability, productivity, and a positive work environment.
  • Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies and implement systems to streamline operations and increase effectiveness.
  • Conflict Resolution: Skillfully navigate and resolve team or client conflicts to maintain alignment and morale.

Administration and Finance

  • Financial Leadership: Oversee accounting operations, leading the accounting team and ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting.
  • Financial Planning and Analysis: Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial models.
  • Profitability Analysis: Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and recommend strategies to improve profit margins.
  • ERP Management: Leverage ERP systems to optimize financial reporting and operational workflows.
  • Key Metrics: Knowledge of business KPIs such as profit margins, cash flow, revenue growth, and expense management.
  • Risk Awareness: A basic understanding of financial compliance, sales tax, and risk management strategies.

Qualifications

  • Required:
      • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field.
      • Minimum of 10 years in a leadership role, ideally in service, design, or construction industries.
      • Expertise in accounting principles, financial analysis, and budgeting.
      • Experience with ERP systems and data analysis tools.
      • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
      • Financial literacy, including a solid understanding of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) to interpret and make data-driven decisions.
  • Preferred:
    • MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field.
    • Proven experience implementing the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) - certification not required.
    • Background in managing multiple projects and driving results in creative or service-based industries.
