STATUS: Regular, Part-Time, Non-Exempt
HOURS: 30 Hours/Week
Position Summary
The Website & Social Media Coordinator will assist the Digital Content Marketing Manager in developing Ceres’ digital customer journeys to grow online donations, store purchases, and volunteer leads or other objectives as defined by the manager through developing content best practices for each social media platform, implementing the social media engagement strategy, developing social media personas, stewarding Ceres’ online presence, growing our influence within local search and performing data analysis. The coordinator will execute Ceres’ social media calendar and will assume progressive responsibility for creating on-brand content and growing our influence on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and other platforms, as well as implementing platform features that we are not currently using. The coordinator will apply SEO best practices to ceresproject.org and social media as well as maintain Ceres’ Google Business Profile to improve local SEO. The Coordinator will partner with the manager to analyze the department’s performance across social media channels, online advertising and the website.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Social Media
Content Creation and Scheduling
- Create social media calendar and publish content on time, in sync with broader communications or awareness/outreach/fundraising campaigns.
- Create content, including writing, audio, photo editing, and short-form video editing.
- Shoot videos or photographs for content creation at Ceres’ sites or other local locations.
- Write social media captions that speak to Ceres’ target audience.
- Collaborate with staff or volunteers on new content types.
- Ensure brand message is consistent.
- Follow Ceres’ brand style guidelines for content.
- Livestream on YouTube, Facebook or Instagram; set up cameras, lighting etc.
Administrative and Engagement
- Answer direct messages and respond to comments on a daily basis.
- Participate in Facebook groups, share posts/stories from other accounts, comment on posts or similar, to engage with online communities.
- Monitors social channels for mentions of Ceres; responds/engages as appropriate; elevates potential PR issues to manager; records mentions of interest for potential social media collaborations or other partnership types for Ceres.
- Upload photos and videos created into Ceres’ Lightroom albums, external hard drives and SharePoint management systems.
- Act as backup moderator for Facebook volunteer group.
Analysis and Strategy
- Track social media engagement and KPIs to identify high-performing ideas and campaigns for scalability.
- Provide monthly reports on content performance per channel for monthly analytics meeting.
- Brainstorm, strategize and research ideas for original content.
- Develop new strategies for increasing engagement, reach or other KPIs.
- Perform keyword research and analysis for website and social media content.
- Stay up to date on SEO best practices and make recommendations to the manager on strategy adjustments.
Website
- Assist in developing new website features, functionality or pages.
- Code in HTML, CSS and JavaScript to improve content or site performance for SEO or add functionality.
- Acts as back up website administrator when Content Marketing Manager is unavailable.
Other
- Manage comments, reviews, content, program and contact information on Ceres’ Google Business Profile.
Qualifications
- Strong writing, editing, and proof-reading skills.
- Strong planning, organization, and time management skills to manage the social media calendar, meet timelines and carry projects to completion.
- Eye for design.
- An active personal Facebook profile (so you can manage Meta accounts through admin access).
- Tech savvy; comfortable taking initiative to troubleshoot technical/software issues or updates.
- Able to use CapCut, Photoshop, QuickTime, iMovie or similar software for content editing.
- Witty, thoughtful and proactive in engaging with people through social media and in person during content shoots.
- Flexibility in schedule to accommodate content shoot locations or times.
- Good awareness of self.
- A commitment to Ceres' Mission and Operating Principles.
- Detail-oriented while able to see a bigger picture.
- Ability and willingness to travel to various program and event locations in Marin and Sonoma counties.
- Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance.
Nice to Have
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Can code in HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
- Experience building webpages with accessibility and SEO best practices.
- Experience with keyword research and strategies, using industry tools like SEMrush or other applicable platforms.
- Experience planning and executing Social Media campaigns and SEO strategies.
- Experience managing multiple on-site and off-site SEO campaigns at once. Creative and analytical thinker who wants to tell stories.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or sit at a workstation; use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse; talk and hear to communicate with coworkers.
- Light to moderate lifting of up to 30 pounds, bending, stooping and climbing a ladder is occasionally required.
- The work environment is primarily indoors with the majority of time spent sitting at a desk, on the phone or a computer, with moderate noise (office equipment, conversation from adjacent coworkers and commercial kitchen equipment) in the background.
- The job requires occasional time in the program kitchen and garden areas. Tasks could include working alongside volunteers to take photographs, conduct casual interviews, wash or chop food, plant, weed or harvest garden produce, etc.

Ceres is following the guidance and requirements of the health departments of Sonoma and Marin counties and the state of California.
