Website Demo Builder (Work From Home In Colorado, Hawaii, Or Michigan)

We’re hiring a Website Demo Builder on a freelance contract (1099) basis for up to 30 hours per week. The schedule is flexible and all work is remote.

Who is Jottful?

Jottful is reimagining the way small businesses market themselves online — starting with their websites. We’re a U.S.-based early-stage software company with an all-remote workforce.

What is this position all about?

The Website Demo Builder uses Jottful’s proprietary software to assemble 1-3 page demonstration websites that help our prospective customers achieve their business goals. You will accomplish this by building websites that:

• Include the business’s branding elements (e.g., logo and colors)
• Incorporate marketing best practices (e.g., a clear information hierarchy)
• Are easy to navigate
• Are visually compelling

To design each sample website, you’ll be provided:

• Access to Jottful’s proprietary software
• All the text you’ll need for the website
• A basic, first-draft layout of the website elements
• A built-in library of stock photos and icons to choose from

This is not a traditional website “designer” role (for example, you won’t be doing concept sketching). Rather, you’ll start with most of the elements you need and you’ll assemble it all into a website that will be effective for the business. You’ll focus especially on information hierarchy and design polish.

Your client will be Jottful’s sales representatives, who will showcase your demo design for prospective customers.

Responsibilities:

• Design and build demo websites using Jottful’s proprietary software
• Select fonts, colors, and images
• Ask for clarification, when needed
• Track your time

Required:

• A workstation with a fast computer and reliable internet and power
• Thoroughly dependable — if you say you will deliver a demo, you always will
• Proficient in English
• Not afraid to ask questions when you need clarification
• An understanding of how to make websites effective
• An “eye” for design, including layout, color, image-selection, and typography
• An appreciation for UX (user experience) and intelligent information hierarchy
• Comfortable with technology
• Quick learner, coachable, curious

Preferred:

• Strong English writing skills
• Marketing experience that includes website-design ownership
• Access to image-editing software such as Adobe Photoshop
• An understanding of website technology
• SEO experience (on-page)
• An understanding of how a range of small businesses make money, such as: professional services providers; home and building contractors; and Main-Street-style small businesses
• Experience working in or with small businesses
• Experience working with U.S.-based clients

Other

This is a freelance contract (1099) position. All work is remote.

You’ll be compensated for each website demo you complete by the deadline, with bonuses when a demo requires little adjustment by the Sales rep and when it results in Jottful winning a new customer. A typical demo takes 30-45 minutes to complete.

You can expect to earn $15 - $35 per hour in this role.

Training is paid at $25 per hour.
