Job Summary
The Account Manager is responsible for managing and growing relationships with wholesale partners across New Mexico while driving revenue growth for both Verdes Wholesale products and Kiva brands. This role focuses on building strong partnerships, delivering data-driven sales strategies, and ensuring the Verdes brand is properly represented in all partner dispensaries, both in-store and online.
The Account Manager will collaborate with the Wholesale Manager, Marketing Strategist, Education team, and Operations to ensure excellence in service and product representation. Success will be determined by meeting sales quotas, expanding market reach, and establishing meaningful partnerships that support Verdes' and Kiva's wholesale growth objectives.
Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Sales & Market Expansion
- Grow sales and market share in the assigned territory by actively managing accounts and developing new business opportunities.
- Travel to dispensaries to manage the account base, working closely with buyers, store managers, and Kiva Sales & Service representatives to build strong relationships.
- Pitch and obtain new listings of SKUs to maximize product distribution in partner dispensaries.
- Plan and implement sell-through activities, including promotional programming, budtender engagement, and retail activations to drive sales.
- Schedule and conduct budtender education sessions to ensure retail staff are well-informed about Verdes and Kiva products.
- Ensure premium in-store merchandising and up-to-date online marketing assets to position Kiva and Verdes as “best in class.”
- Assess customer needs, analyze sales trends, and assist with the ordering process to prevent out-of-stocks and ensure optimal inventory levels at partner locations.
- Manage revenue and distribution targets for the territory, identifying opportunities and gaps for growth.
- Creative problem-solving and overcoming objections to successfully close deals and grow accounts.
- Negotiate pricing and investments with accounts to create mutually beneficial partnerships.
- Process credit memos and manage any necessary returns or adjustments for wholesale partners.
Client Relationship Management
- Maintain strong, trusting relationships with all wholesale clients by conducting regular store visits, calls, and meetings.
- Document all activities in HubSpot CRM to ensure accurate account tracking and reporting.
- Provide regular updates to clients on new product releases, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
- Schedule and activate in-store events to drive engagement and increase product visibility.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for wholesale partners, ensuring a high level of satisfaction and addressing any concerns or feedback promptly.
Brand Representation & Merchandising
- Ensure Verdes and Kiva products are merchandised optimally in partner dispensaries.
- Collaborate with the Marketing Strategist and retail partners to enhance in-store and online product visibility.
- Work with the Education team to conduct training sessions for budtenders on the features and benefits of Verdes and Kiva products.
Data-Driven Sales Strategy
- Collect and analyze sales data to inform strategies for product distribution, reorder timing, and promotional planning.
- Monitor inventory levels at wholesale partner locations to prevent stock-outs and ensure optimal product availability.
- Provide actionable insights on market trends and performance to internal teams to support strategic decision-making.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with the Marketing, Education, and Operations teams to ensure seamless order fulfillment, client training, and marketing support.
- Work closely with the CRO to optimize operational workflows and address any issues related to order fulfillment or client satisfaction.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in sales, preferably in CPG, cannabis, or the spirits/wine/beer industries.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and CRM platforms (SalesForce or HubSpot preferred).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to meet or exceed sales goals.
- Ability to analyze data and trends to make informed decisions.
- Other:
- Must be able to travel frequently including overnight travel within New Mexico (up to 80% of the time).
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Must be 21 years of age or older as required by state regulations.
